Let’s Get Mental, Again! Conference 2020

We just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who attended our Let’s Get Mental 2020 conference. Without your support, the Young Advisors team and events such as this would not be possible. We hope you learnt a lot and got to meet new people during the day.

We felt that the conference was a major success, with those who attended demonstrating an incredible level of participation. This means a lot to us and the speakers. It was nice to see our hard work pay off and our passion for mental health shared.

We hope to see you again soon, and remember to contact us if you ever need our help.
Once again, a massive thank you.

Best Wishes
The Young Advisors Team

About the event

In February 2019, our Young Advisors designed and delivered the inaugural Let’s Get Mental conference, celebrating participation within mental health services. Featuring stories of young people, parents, carers and those around them having a voice in shaping the present and future of mental health provision and support, the event was a great success, with more than 120 professionals, young people and members of the public taking part.

On the back of that achievement, the Young Advisors team held a second conference in 2020, on the theme of education and mental health.

The decision to focus on education stemmed from the team’s extensive experience of mental health within the education sector, including schools, colleges and universities. Furthermore, they felt it was especially appropriate given the current focus on mental health in education, as demonstrated by the UK government’s recent green papers and the introduction of roles such as the Education and Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs).

Once again, the team received plenty of positive feedback, with attendees finding the day both educational and inspiring. One attendee said, “I pledge to take away how empowering it is to learn from young people, and how much we can support them if we only just listen.”

People even went as far as to say that this conference was better than the last! Hopefully, we can continue to outdo ourselves. Roll on LGM 2021!
