Associate Development Solutions (ADS) specialises in supporting services dedicated to children and young people’s mental health (CYP MH), offering tailored support and consultancy to enhance the effectiveness of services.

We possess extensive experience working with children, young people, their families, and the services that support them. Our team includes The Midlands Young Advisors (YAs) who are a team of young participation experts by experience who ensure our approach keeps children and young people at the heart of what we do.

Our team of CYP MH subject matter experts brings substantial knowledge and experience to assist organisations address the distinct challenges faced by services, commissioners, providers, and service users within this essential sector.

What is Participation?

Participation in the context of mental health refers to the active involvement and engagement of young people in their own care and in the design and delivery of mental health services. This ranges from young people taking an active role in their mental healthcare decisions, to contributing to advisory panels and shaping services.

The Midlands Young Advisors (YAs), hosted by Associate Development Solutions, are a team of young people working together to champion the voice of young people and their families throughout mental health and allied services.

Formed in 2017, they are an autonomous team of young people aged 16-24 from different backgrounds and lived experiences of either accessing Children and Young People’s Mental Health Services (CYPMHS) or supporting loved ones with their mental health.

The Midlands Young Advisors provide participation support to the Children and Young People’s Mental Health Midlands Regional Collaborative and Children and Young People’s Psychological Therapies (CYP PT); deliver training events across health, social care, school and university settings; deliver an annual free to attend regional conference; and their insights, experiences and involvement across our portfolio of work ensures that our solutions are relevant, effective and participation- and lived-experience-informed.
